Safe Work Near Powerlines

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.

You will cover:

  • relevant legislation, regulations, standards, codes of practice and organisational workplace requirements
  • hazard, risk assessment and risk control requirements
  • types and application of PPE
  • safe use of plant, tools and equipment, including the safe approach distance
  • application, purpose and types of work permits
  • procedures for responding to an unplanned event or incident
  • safety observer
  • basic electrical principles and electricity networks
  • completing relevant work records, reports and documentation
  • terminology related to working safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus

Upon successful completion of assessment task(s) students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for unit: UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

As there is an outdoor component to this course please ensure you wear appropriate clothing for the predicted weather conditions, including hat, long sleeves, wet weather clothes etc.
